Hello. We are Karl and Lucy — an author and an illustrator who got tired of waiting for the kind of publisher we actually wanted to work with. So we built one.

s and f, is Simms and Farrell. Karl writes. Lucy draws. Together we make books the way we like to read them: words and pictures grown in the same room, argued over, read aloud, and only sent out into the world once they have earned a place on our own shelves.

That is the whole idea. We publish our own work, and we want to be a proper home for other authors and illustrators who care about the same things we do — story first, craft that shows, books that feel finished rather than assembled. If you have a manuscript or a portfolio and you have been looking for a small house that still answers the email, we would like to hear from you.

What we can do, in plain terms: publish and sell books with care (paper, type, covers that are not an afterthought), develop words and pictures together rather than bolting one onto the other at the end, and help stories find readers without disappearing into a catalogue the size of a phone book.

We are excited, slightly terrified, and very ready. The shop is open. The first books are landing. There is more on the way — children's adventures, romantasy, and a few darker corners we have not walked into yet.
