Karl has gone somewhere darker. She Keeps Them Alive is underway.

A small announcement from the desk that usually produces children's books and romantasy: Karl has taken a left turn.

He is currently writing She Keeps Them Alive, and it is the first time S and F has stepped into the dark mind of a thriller. Lucy Bennet kills men and then immortalises them with online memorials. It works, until journalist James Harding walks into her life and nothing stays neatly buried.

This one is psychological. It has a plot twist we are not going to spoil. It is also, if we are honest, the book that has made lucy look up and ask karl if he is genuinely, all right.

We started this house to publish across the full shelf — wonder at one end, unease at the other — as long as the book would earn its place next to the rest. She Keeps Them Alive is passing that test in real time. Pages are landing. The temperature in the room has changed.

There is no release date yet. We will not rush a book that needs to be sharp. When it is ready, you will hear about formats, platforms and the rest of the practical stuff. For now we just wanted you to know what is on the desk.

If Henry is the book you read with the light on, If veiled Marks is the book you read to be heart broken, this is the one you might leave the landing light on for afterwards.

More soon. We are in it now.
